Monitor Your Advertising
When you place ad's you shouldn't just assume that because you get increased numbers of orders that the ad's are working.
There are a number of possibilities why the orders increased; It could be seasonal, due to word of mouth referrals, better search engine placement or a number of factors. The important things to realise is that if you don't track where the orders are coming form you'll never know. Don't make assumptions as it could cost you money.
E.g. one popular way of advertising is paid advertising on the internet. You may try this and in the first month you get 2 extra orders directly from your new ad's. However, you may go a year before your next sale from the ad, and lose a lot of money into the bargain. Unless you track the fact that the ad's aren't working you could end up paying through the nose for something which just isn't worth it.
So how can you track orders? Well internet orders can often be tracked using a variety of methods such as cookies. Even if you don't use the internet you can simply ask the clients where they found out about your services.
You should remember that not all advertising actually works, in fact some ad's will certainly cost you a lot more than they bring in so you need to be selective.
